Ninth place, eleven wins and 40 points at the end. It was a season to forget for Basel, who actually have very different aspirations. The more important is that the things will be better is the club great hope this season. The club lost some players like Renato Veiga who went to Chelsea for a lot of money, but Basel still didn't go on big in the transfer window. Benie Traore, Martin Soticek, Leo Leroy and Kevin Ruegg were signed, costing a total of over €8 million. Ultimately, the core of the team stayed together and wanted to draw attention to themselves with a successful start to the season. The team lost 2-3 against Lausanne in the first round. After just 22 minutes the rsult was 0-2 but the fact that Basel were equal in all statistics was ultimately no good. Last season, Basel conceded an average of almost two goals away from home and showed serious weaknesses defensively. A look at the last season reveals that six of the first seven away games resulted in at least two goals being conceded. Basel fans are naturally hoping that they can look forward to stable times at home this season. Basel haven't lost a home game since the beginning of March which is encouraging.
